Yeah, I, too, don't see anything in settings or More Options that pertains to resuming play.
I tried signing out and signing back in — this time into my main Google account, and not my secondary, "branded account," thinking that may make a difference — but it didn't help: I can start a video, back-out, then play again, but it won't pick-up where I left off.... Funny, it does
remember my resolution setting across launches of the channel.
Maybe my Roku 3 (4200) model is too old for it to work.
