Replacement remote for 3500X streaming stick

Wed Mar 06, 2019 3:27 pm

The remote for my Roku quit working.  The remote I have is a RC12.  I've tried all the internet fixes (batteries, repairing, shutting down everything and restarting, etc.) but it just doen't work.  Right now I'm using my IPhone as a remote but I'd rather just buy a new remote.  I understand the RC12 is RF and most of the available replacements seem to be IR.  Can someone recommend a good source for a replacement that isn't shipped from China?

Thanks for the note. We don't currently offer a supported replacement remote for that device (Streaming Stick model 3500) on our accessories page.

If you are in need of a replacement remote, please reach out to our team at https://support.roku.com/contactus and use the contact us form to inquire about this order related issue and they can assist you with additional options.

Thanks,

ROKU solved my problem by providing a new 3600X with a new remote.  All is well.  Thanks ROKU!

@petersattler

Thanks for the note. We don't currently offer a replacement remote for that model of Roku Streaming Stick. You might check out the free Roku mobile app as an alternate option. It has remote control ability built right in. See more here: https://support.roku.com/article/115002681087-how-do-i-control-my-roku-streaming-device-using-the-roku-mobile-app-

Feel free to send me a PM with your Roku account email address and I can get you in touch with our support team for more assistance from there.

Thanks,
Tanner

I'm surprised that the Roku 3600 remote doesn't work with the Roku 3500. Same technology, no?
Yeah, I got some Rokus.

The current replacement remote (AL-2) available for model 3600 is not officially supported for use with the model 3500.

Put simply, the model 3600 is entirely different, newer hardware than the former model.

Sorry, I should've clarified.. the sticks are different hardware, but isn't the technology used to communicate remote -> stick the same (wifi direct?), or do the newer remotes "speak" differently?
Yeah, I got some Rokus.

Help! My I have lost my roku 3500x remote! I was using my phone and the roku app for the longest time but then moved and my roku stick is still attached to the old WiFi so I can’t reset it. I tried doing the contact us online but never get to answer that actually allows me to write my question. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Set your new WiFi up just like the old WiFi - same SSID and password. The stick should connect and you can use the remote app again.

No it is not, and this is why Roku needs to provide documentation on which devices are no longer supported, a list of remotes for devices and which are NLA or unsupported.
It's independent of any need to know which version of windows someone is running, we all can adapt with or without Roku, I was doing fine before Roku arrived on the scene and will continue to do so after Roku has long gone.
