Hi all,
I consider myself as an advanced user of Roksbox, that I use for specific use. There is a great feature in Roksbox that seems great but in fact in not logical at all.
In the XML definition of one video (1 per file) or all the videos (once per collection), there is a tag: <GENRE>
The problem is that tag is used both for the genre of the movie (Comedy, Drama, ...) and the category. It's ok when one want to order movies by categories but sometimes, it's not a good idea at all. In my case for example, I want only 1 category (folder) for all my movies, without sub categories. So if I tag <GENRE>Movies</GENRE>, I dont have the genre in the movie summary, of course.
So I suggest a change in the XML definition: add a <FOLDER> or <CATEGORY> tag for the category of the video in general (not a movie), and <GENRE> for the movie genre(s).
Like:
<xml>
<video>
.....
<folder>Movies</folder>
<genre>Comedy, Drama, Action</genre>
.....
</video>
</xml>

Regards.

I have been using Roksbox for a number of years.  About a year ago I started using the photos feature by creating an xml file that met the published requirements.  All of this worked fine until a few months ago.  I can view categories that include up to 100 pictures, but any more than that and RoksBox crashes.

At about the same time the video search function stopped working.  Starting a search causes RoksBox to crash.

Does anyone know if there is any software support for this channel???

My installation of Roksbox for DropBox works flawlessly for videos but the photos are intermittent.  All of the folders and sub-folders show.  However, not all of the sub-folders will play a slideshow.  some will and some will not, they just stay in the "...Working..." state for ever.  I have reviewed everything even set up a new folder with only reduced size photos; does not seem to be the issue as the folder with smaller photos did not work, while other folders with the original large file photos did.  Any ideas?

The APP does not crash and I can navigate back to the folders and even the main menu.

What is the proper way to get Roksbox xStream to work with Google Drive?

The online help says to follow the on-screen instructions but the on-screen instructions say to go to http://www.roksbox.com/google and when I do that I get a 404 error. I have double- and triple-checked what I typed and have even tried  upper or mixed case and "gd" or "googledrive" instead of "google," but still haven't been able to authorize Roksbox xStream for Google Drive.

The authorization for Dropbox works. Why not Google Drive? What must I do (and what is a working URL) to get this working?

Thanks.

This may be a content creation issue. If you are familiar with FFmpeg I suggest the method below from my video blog. If you are not familiar with FFmpeg then please follow the best practices mentioned in the article.

Yes, I fully understand that their onscreen instructions are wrong. As I am unsure if or even how often the people from Wildtech read this forum you should ignore the link on that screen and follow the instructions in the article that I provided but exclude step four which says "Read the information screen, then select Continue."

Yes, this is something that due to the absence of Wildtech support here in the forums you will likely need to figure out yourself. Note that you are not alone on this problem and that a large volume of people have this same issue.

https://www.google.com/search?q=%22roksbox%22+%22google+drive%22

And it is because of what I feel to be Wildtech's abject failure to provide proper documentation and support that I moved to Plex.

Has the root folder problem ever been fixed on either Roksbox for Dropbox or Roksbox for Cloud? The channel works if you just let the app "see" every folder in your Dropbox & then navigate to where your videos are, but you can not assign a specific folder as the root folder anymore. I don't mind for myself, but trying to use it on a child's TV & just want it to point to a specific folder. Using a Roku Express & Express Plus. Thank you.

I downloaded this hoping it would be a better solution to watching videos off of my usb drive. Does this app recognize videos in the root of the usb drive, or only if the video files are in a folder?
