Enjoying the Roku Yule Log on a cool/wet Los Angeles morning

Fri Dec 17, 2010 7:14 am

High and good morning everyone.

Been up all night, Roku going the entire time. Watched a few NHL games and then went in the channel store, added the Roku Holiday Spotlight channel and found the Yule log.

With a cup of hot coffee I sit. Door and windows open to watch the LA sunrise on this cloudy, damp, cool morning, heater on, watching the Yule log and listening to the sounds of a city waking up. Just beautiful. Relaxing.

Thank you.

Peace

brett

ps- some Hanukkah content next holiday season for those of the Hebrew faith would be such a blessing but still loving the log. Reminds me of the tv channel in NYC when I was growing up that always showed the log burning from Gracie Mansion (where the Mayor of NYC lives/lived, not Batman. Oh wait, that was beautiful Wayne Manor)

Cool LA morning? 55-60? lol
Get back to DaBronx, there will be shoveling to do on Sunday/Monday.
WPIX was the NY station that did the yule log and that was wonderful to kick back and watch.

Thank you for the reply and the information. WPIX was home of The Yankees when I was growing up. Mets were on WOR along with The Rangers and Knicks back then.

BTW, it's about 52-53 here now but feels like the 40's. Might not even break 60 all day. Laugh if you want but I've been here so long it is cool to me, got the Bean flannel robe on.

Major bummer when I can't wear shorts.

The HIGH was 17 here in Wisconsin on Wednesday. The low? 0! Ever felt 0? I'd LOVE to wake up to 40's, with a chance of it hitting 60 in December! That WOULD be shorts weather this time of year.

Enjoy it!
Yeah, I got some Rokus.

Another cold/wet morning as we brace for the strongest storm in a decade here in Los Angeles, http://www.accuweather.com/us/ca/north-hollywood/91601/city-weather-forecast.asp?partner=accuweather&u=1&traveler=0. Watching NHL games till near dawn when the Yule log goes back on. Looks like the log will be used a bit this week, rain on the way and LA is on "storm watch" (who said it never rains in California?)

Peace

brett

Strongest rainstorm in a decade expected to hit Southland

The storm, on a 'conveyor belt right toward California,' is poised to drop several inches of rain just in time to wreak havoc on the last shopping weekend before Christmas.

Dabronx,
I hear ya. I lived in Florida for 5 years after being from the north and after a while if it was under 60 I was freezing. My family and friends up north mocked me, but you get used to the warm weather and it can't be helped.

High and good morning. Just to update everyone, Los Angeles has not floated into the ocean yet but we are getting soaked (see LA Times story below) with what they said would be the storm of the decade. I may have webbed feet by the end of the week.

Here is the local North Hollywood forcast - http://www.accuweather.com/us/ca/north-hollywood/91601/city-weather-forecast.asp?partner=accuweather&u=1&traveler=0

Roku-ers on the east coast can expect this storm to hit cities like New York, Philly, Boston as a snowstorm on Christmas day.

As George Carlin said, "That's the weather from Al Sleet, your hippie dippie weatherman with all the hippie dippie weather, ... man."

Get out the Roku Yule log and let it glow, let it glow, let it glow.

Peace

brett

Southland slogs through storm system of a decade

Sunday's storm brought some floods, mudslides and record-breaking rainfall, and there's more to come. Three new storms will hit by Thursday in a weather system seen only once every 10 to 15 years.

By Rong-Gong Lin II and Jason Felch, Los Angeles Times

December 20, 2010

As Southern California slogged through a deluge not seen in years, forecasters warned that three more powerful storms will target Los Angeles before Thursday.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there's some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Yes we are babies here in California. I'm from the bay area myself and if it gets below 45 or above 85 we start to whine, LOL.
