Question about new Roku STB's

Sat Dec 18, 2010 11:31 pm

What is that little tab looking thing that is sticking out of the left hand side of the box and the bottom of the remote of the new generation of boxes?

This looks to me as if it would get in the way, and it does not look cool in the least.

Is it removeable?

I'm not currently in the market for a new STB. I have the N1000, and am using it on my brand new Sharp Aquos 60" HDTV and it works like a charm.

I suppose the only thing that would really make me get a new box is if I have a need or want to add more channels that I have capacity for, and I end up giving this box to my son.

Thanks.

It's purely cosmetic. You can cut it off if you want.

You don't want to remove it.
If you do that some tab maker in India could find himself out of a job.
That could eventually lead to the ruination our of global economy.
