Re: With the price of Cable going up, who's cutting the cord

For me cable is the only real broadband option so I won't be cutting the cord any time soon. I do get the MLB package on Roku. Right now my cable still offers a lot of on demand programming that is not yet available on Hulu plus.
I have no premium channels on cable.

Cord-cutters is a term referring to subscribers who discontinue all cable TV - not cable broadband.

I have a TV tuner connected on my computer. I then can access the recorded files over my home network. If I wanted to covert them to another format, there is software availble for that. I usually delete after watching though. Much cheaper than TiVo.

I am one step closer to cutting the TV cord. I just got my Roku in the mail 2 days ago. I already had Netflix & I just signed up for Hulu+. I have a MacBook Pro that can connect up to my TV for some shows not on Hulu or Netflix.

Sports is gonna hurt a bit. But I know some ways to get around it, that work mostly. I have the MLB app on my iphone so I can always listen to any game I want. And all my Packer games are broadcast anyway. The wife is gonna love not having SportsCenter available to me.

I am pretty sure that I am going to build a personal DVR for some things anyway. Because some shows just are not available to stream or online. I am looking at you Sesame Street & Jeopardy! But, cutting out cable should cover my personal DVR build in about 4 months time.

I wish I can cut my cable, but I can't at this time w/out Cartoon Network, Disney Channel and Nickelodeon for my kids...

Save money by getting the Family Package. Directv have a family package for 30 bucks a month, mostly just kid channels and channels most people don't watch. You have to call for it because they hide it. I think all cable companies have Family packages, just call yours up and see.

With the addition of $45.xx starting package for my internet and some contents I subscribing it's pretty much the same thing ofcourse I have to sacrifice the Home phone line. As of now I'm paying $145 for those combo and it's so ridiculous....My wife is ok to cut our cable but without those Kids channels that I mention....She does't want to cut the cord...
