Great this update broke my box. I have a xds and a mitsubishi wd-60c9 and now all I get is a green screen. I have tried plugging all cable in and out several time and rebooting with no luck. Now this awsome product that I never had trouble with is broken.

Why waited so long after the announcement? Hmmm something fishy going around...

What type of video cable are you using - HDMI, RGB or RWY ??

Hdmi. I have tested the cable and tried others to no avail.

The "green screen" problem is generally an HDMI handshaking issue (it's not unique to the Roku). Why it didn't occur before this update in your case is hard to say. There are a number of suggested work arounds:
- Make sure the HDMI cable is well-seated in the Roku (some have even shaved back the sheathing around the connector so it goes in fully)
-Turning the TV off/on
- switch the TV to another input and back
- use an AV receiver
- use an HDMI switch box (even if the Roku is the only device on it)
- use component instead of HDMI (if that's an option).

I tried the yellow video out and it works, just not in hd of course. So what, I need a new cable? All the hdmi cables I have are the same type, I got them on a very good deal but they are 1.3a.

I just don't see why one evening it works well and the next its not working at all.

Dude, chill out! If you have a problem with your device, then take it up with Roku support. They can be found on their website.

I updated to 1553 and my XD has frozen once and rebooted on it's own once. Hopefully the kinks have worked themselves out.

I'm afraid I'm not in on the joke here. It must be, 2 of you quoted my question and answered it with a wink. Odd that.

Your question will probably be answered when the release notes are published sometime next week.

For the first time, I have converted an avi to MKV and it played perfectly on the usb drive. Used Freemake to convert it.

And are you implying that b1553 made a difference in getting an MKV to play?

I guess I'm spoiled from other devices but it seems slow going getting any new or improved features on the Roku. It would be cool if we could get a list of planned features so we know if there is something to look forward to in the future.

they plan to add a coffeemaker, but if you ask them about it they'll deny it.
