that's got to be a typo.... They might as well take their subscribership numbers and divide them by 50 then

It's not a typo. You can go to your device page on your netflix account and see it says you can have up to 50 devices. They still limit the # of simultaneous streams though.

I've 15 devices (5 iOS, 4 pc, 3 roku, 2 tivo, 1 wii) today with Netflix, just at home, just for myself and the wife. Doesn't seem crazy that a family of four could easily have triple that number.

Why's it crazy? I've been desperate for this! I have five Rokus, three iPads, three iPhones, an AppleTV, a desktop PC, a HTPC, and three laptops that are all used for viewing Netflix at any given time. Deactivating and reactivating devices gets old really fast!

Absolutely agreed. Like lots of others, I have multiple Neftlix capable devices (Xboxes, PS3, Rokus, Wii, iPad, iPhone, etc.) and the six device limit was way too restrictive. Kudos to Netflix for upping the limit.

Limiting the number of streams is the only important factor. I pay for my subscription so if I choose to have 100 devices then that should be fine. Practically speaking however I think 50 is more than people would need.

This is welcome. 2 iPhones, Apple TV, 2 blu-ray, 2 Rokus, and iPad, and 3 Macs in our family.

I'm happy for this. 2 PS3s, 2 Xboxes, 2 Rokus, TiVo, Wii, WDLiveTV, Dash, iPhone, iPad, etc. - so glad not having to deactivate/reactivate too. Does this really hurt Netflix, though? I never tried - but I assume that streaming can only occur on one device per account at one time? Or am I wrong?

I have an "HD Ready" Sony TV, meaning it has no internal tuner. Does Roku serve as a external tuner? Will I be able to use Roku with my "HD Ready" TV without any other devices? Any help will be much appreciated.

Roku will allow you to stream video from the internet channels that work with Roku,---Netflix ,Amazon vod,Crackle,--among others,as well as some private channels that you can install. It will work with your tv and internet. It will not serve as a converter for over the air signals from an antenna, its internet only.
