Hmmm???
Connected the Roku 2 to my LG Plasma with HDMI cable, used supplied composite A/V cable to connect RCA audio to my older Onkyo and it worked just fine.
HDMI audio to TV works fine and RCA audio to receiver works fine as well.
Not sure what problems you were having.

Hm, maybe I'm not understanding what you're trying to do, but I have an HDMI cable from my Roku 2 to my TV, and a composite cable (Roku's mini-plug to 3-RCA cable) from my Roku 2 to the white/red RCA jacks on my receiver. The yellow composite cable is unattached. This seems to work fine to get video over HDMI and analog audio to my receiver.
