Are you looking at the beta channel (remoku.tv/beta)? It sounds like you may be trying to use the stable channel (plain remoku.tv), which has non-functional custom macros(I should not have released with those buttons visible

). The beta build date is June 24, 2012 10:00:00PM. In that build, the macros have been moved to the top of Goodies, and you should see a menu with these items by default: Email, Home, Developer Screen, Dump Core, Secret Screen, Bit Rate Override, Channels Info, and RepeatPlayWait. Next to the menu is the Run button. Below those is a text field for naming a Macro, with add and remove buttons, and below that line is a larger text area for the macro itself. If you want to add the macro below, you'll need to change the word "pause" to "wait". Paste that into the large field and give it a name in the small field and click add. That should save the macro to the saved settings and put it at the bottom of the menu. From there you can call it up from the menu and hit run.
Also, it sounds like this might be closer to the macro you're looking for:
{"keypress":"Fwd"},{"wait":"00:05"},{"keypress":"Play"}
The Roku usually continues to ff/rev after a release of either of those buttons, until Play is pressed. I don't use MLB, but assume it's the same there as in the channels that I do frequently use. You may even want to add in a second or third Fwd keypress to increase the transport speed, and/or play with the wait time to get the timing right. It'll take some tweaking, I imagine, to find the right settings for MLB, and it will probably vary from one provider, like MLB, to the next, like Hulu or Crackle.
Let me know if that isn't your experience. I'm hoping that it's just the wrong build, because if not, things are majorly broken for you from the sound of it =)

how does one add the macro?
example ...
say i want to try:
{"keydown":"Fwd"},{"pause":"00:05"},{"keyup":"Fwd"}
to simulate holding down the ">>" key for 5 seconds in an attempt
to FF through, say a 2 min commercial on MLB.
[not sure this would even do what i want]
how do i enter that info?
i've tried clicking on the box and pasting it in ...
then "add macro" ...
but i don't see that it does anything.
pressing on the Custom Macros tab/arrow doesn't show
me anything either.
if i then go to the Fwd button, nothing different happens
than with a normal press.
also ...
are we supposed to be able to add a number of macros
and call them up by name?
like i said ... i'm stuck.
