Build you own Roku channel from any compatible video podcast for free. The "rule of thumb" is that if the video podcast will play on iPhone/iPad, it is compatible. You can not side-load these channels, they must be uploaded to the Roku Channel Store as either a Private or Public channel.

Steps:

1. Sign up for a Roku developer account at https://owner.roku.com/Developer
2. Go to http://www.flickstream.com/appbuilder/one.php
3. Input a compatible video podcast URL (rss feed). Here is an example for "Happy Tree Friends" http://podcast.happytreefriends.com/htfrss.xml
4. Choose your channel art, or let us build it for you.
5. Upload to your Roku developer account at https://owner.roku.com/Developer
6. Add the channel to your Roku with the channel code Roku provides
6. Profit.

Ok, it works, but it's very slow loading the channels Hope it's just the urls I was using that was causing the lag.

Since I uploaded a TON of the podcasts to noknok a while back, I'll let someone else have the fun with this one. I added a few, but it's a slower process... If someone has time on their hands... here you go...

You might have to sign up for forums over there (it's free) if you want to download the category pack... TONS of urls in there... some will work with roku, others won't... just open the files in the zip and start digging out the urls and try them. Share the private codes later if you can. Spread the love so we don't all have to reinvent the wheel.

Yes, yes, sorry admins/mods... I know, I know... playon is a bad word, etc... just linking above because it's the biggest list of halfway interesting video podcasts created by a community online that I know of other than itunes. The zip is a couple of years old, but many of the podcasts in it are still relevant and work. (some don't but many do)

I really, really, really wish Nowhere man would make one monster channel for these. Sunimi is sort of like that, but it is limited to letting you only add a handful of channels. Noknok is only half baked solution... something like that in an unofficial channel like nowhere would be sweet... well either that or bring on that ability to add any number of channels as was hinted at many months back.

This is really cool. I just created a channel called PBS Nature which pulls video podcasts from http://www.pbs.org/podcasts/. Add "PBSNature" (vanity code) to your roku to enjoy this awesome podcast. And let me know how I can improve it.

It's the urls. Most of the time it's because of large images in the feed.

We built it with the idea that someone that had their own video podcast without a budget could use it to make a private or public channel very easily. We also know that people would like specific podcasts available in a distinct channel (like the NBC news podcasts) or the like.

Is this a Mac only thing (again)?
The zip file I was sent will not open on my PC.
I cannot unzip it.
I open zip files all the time, so there must be something different about this one.

It's not a "mac" thing. It's just a standard zip file containing the channel .pkg file and 2 .jpg's.

Not so interesting if you have followed our previous posts around here.

some people put ad in there video stream if over ride them with what need in there video podcaster will not get the credit if dont show the ad thay insurt into the podcast thay make so this need to have a way for podcaster to or audio podcast so if add the ad from site avertiser will not give them the pay them at all so thsi need to be looked into thanks sorry bad spelling im austic person
