List of Starz content to be lost on Netflix

Mon Jan 23, 2012 10:42 am

My understanding is that any Starz Play movies etc in my instant queque will be deleted and not available after Feb 28th.
Is there any easy way to identify all the Starz content that will be gone from Netflix so I can start watching them now?
I know this is really a Netflix question but this Roku forum is so helpful and Roku did start off as a Netflix box..
I went to my Netflix account but the Starz Play section does not seem to have all the listing.
A search brings up movies with Star in the title
Is there an outside web site that does this?
thanks in advance

if you have starz content in your instant queue you will see a small starz logo in the bottom right comer of the thumbnail. That is how I am deciding what to watch. You will see the logo on all the thumbnails even on the recommended lists that have any starz programming. Hope that helps.

I would venture that most of the titles in this list will be going away.

You can also look at InstantWatcher's expiring soon list and FeedFlix's expiring soon list and I believe the Instant Watch Browser for NetFlix also has an expiring soon section.

EDIT: Remember there are probably some Starz titles that NetFlix has other rights to so those may go away only to reappear shortly thereafter.

It does. It also has the option of viewing your queue sorted by expiration.

There's a little over 800 titles here

Definitely watch Party Down, a very funny comedy series about caterers!

+1 on Party Down. I loved that show. :)

Also if you like political dramas, "Boss" with Kelsey Grammer is really good. He won a Golden Globe for it. Although right now the series is listed as "coming soon". Hopefully, that means really soon with the Starz-Netflix contract almost up.

And also "The Take", a British miniseries about the mob in the U.K. is also really good. Very edgy though. Definitely adult stuff. I liked it a lot.

Thanks Tecmo, I will check out The Take. I liked Boss, too, definitely a different side of Kelsey Grammer. Anyone else have any suggestions from Starz before they're gone?

thank you all. Admittedly, I have had to learn the Netflix culture, as none of the Netflix advertisements nor even their web site explain that some titles are not available in high definition , all titles are not available via streaming, and streaming titles expire at a certain point in time even if they are in your queque with no warning or indication.
Your responses were excellent. After i posted, I did several different google searches and while I found very many similar questions to mine on many forums, nobody had bothered to answer them. Even one site, Quora, that has answers from Netflix execs (where I learned that Starz movies are not HD) had the exact same question sitting lonely and unanswered since January 18th.
Again, thanks for those links of the other web sites as otherwise I would not have realized that Torchwood expires Jan 31. Got to get watching and put off Starz until February.
What a shame that Netflix does not let its customers know in any way when or what titles expire on streaming.

I thought on Torchwood Miracle Day was a Starz product? Aren't the other Torchwood seasons owned by someone else? Perhaps the BBC.

Ron

Yep, they are BBC but Instant Watch says the Torchwood is expiring Jan 31, so that's why I'm watching that first. I did mix and match BBC and Starz which did make my post confusing. Apparently Torchwood has been on since Dec 2010, but I just got my Roku on Dec 2011 so it has been streaming on netflix for over a year. Instant watch does not break down the expiring titles by content provider or if it does, I haven't figured out how.

After reading your post here I went to instant watch too and I do agree it's going on the 31st. I've been watching Torchwood non stop now. I have five more to go of season three to go. I first discovered the program on Starz while getting it for free from Dish and watched Miracle Day before watching any of the older seasons.

I just watched The Brink's Job tonight, and if you're in the mood for an old-time caper flick, this one is pretty good! Directed by William Friedkin (who directed The Exorcist and The French Connection) and boasting a cast that includes the Peters Falk and Boyle, Warren Oates and Gena Rowlands, among others, it's not a bad way to spend a couple of hours. It's not available on DVD except for some new-ish program from Amazon where they'll burn you a DVD-R if you order it, so watch it before the end of next month, folks!
