Goodbye VideoBuzz - And Thanks

Sat Apr 13, 2013 9:46 pm

This sucks!

http://www.videobuzz.us/

We received a notice from Roku management asking us to close down the channel as we don't own the content which is being streamed by VideoBuzz channel. As of now, we will be closing down the channel on Wednesday, April 17th, 2013.

We are discussing with multiple content providers to see if we can provide similar services/channels abiding to Roku Developer agreement. Please like our Facebook page and also subscribe to our newsletter (http://www.videobuzz.us/) to stay updated for our upcoming features and channels.

Once again thank for your overwhelming support for our VideoBuzz channel and we hope you will continue extending the same support when our new services become available.

They might be pulling the 1080p Showcase, too, I imagine, since it's also pulling YouTube content. Could just be that Google is requesting VideoBuzz be pulled since it's been discussed a lot here. The old banned YouTube Channel still works for people that installed it.

This really bites! I'm just grateful I've still got that old legacy YouTube channel but I feel very bad for all those that will be losing access to YouTube. Roku needs to seriously kiss somebody's butt and do whatever it takes to bring an official YouTube channel.

How can others get the old legacy channel for you tube?

If you had your Roku for a couple of years when the channel existed you might have had the channel, but you can't get it anymore.

If you keep VideoBuzz installed and don't uninstall. It should stay on your Roku channel account.

VideoBuzz is currently better than the legacy YouTube channel.

Add it to some extra accounts if you want.

Also I'm sure someone will make another too.

I wouldn't count on it. The last 3 or 4 channels that went away stopped working too.

terrible news, but I knew this would happen eventually. :x :x

plex is not a replacement at all. The whole point of roku is not have to use a computer. If I have to go and add videos manually, I might as well just hook an hdmi from my comp to my TV. We are going backwards

even my smart TV has youtube and I see myself increasingly pushed away from roku to other devices. May not buy a roku 3 after all

I forgot about Twonky. In addition to Plex the Android app PlayTo works great for sending Youtube from your tablet to the Roku.

I wonder if this means Roku will be adding an official youtube channel soon?

Not necessarily. Google could have made another DMCA complaint.

Well, so much for that.

I had uploaded a TON of home movies to YouTube just to be able to stream them on my Roku.

Guess I'll have to find another way to watch them now. Can you stream directly off a USB stick?

If not, guess I'll start uploading to Dailymotion. At least they have a legit channel.

Cannot understand why YouTube doesn't have a Roku channel yet. Videobuzz proves that it can be done.
