I have a Roku 2 XS (v5.3/build 3049) that freezes for a couple of seconds and then restarts almost once a day when watching any videos on Netflix, Hulu+ or Amazon Instant. I think this issue has existed since 5.2, but it has become significantly worse in 5.3. I can't reproduce this at will, but it is frequent enough to really bother me. There is specific time of the day when this occurs.
Initially, I believed this to be a wireless issue and I connected the Roku box to my router using an Ethernet Cable, but this hasn't helped.
I also tried the factory reset using the GUI option and I still have the same problem after the system update.
I have Comcast with the 50 down/25 up plan and I don't believe bandwidth has been a problem. My video resolutions usually remains at HD through out the video, but sometimes switched to LD for a brief moment before switched back to HD.
I have CC turned on when ever possible (on NF, H+ and Amazon).
I'm in North Bergen, NJ.
I did notice a couple of threads reporting similar issues, but no specific resolution. Any help or ideas to debug this further would be appreciated.
