Roku 2 XS - SD card size

Sat Dec 28, 2013 9:58 pm

Hello,

I just purchased a lightly used Roku 2 XS. It came bare, only with remote and power supply, no box, instructions, cables, etc.

I've been trying to peruse the web and the Roku site for information regarding the SD card slot, and have found that the XS utilizes it for game and channel storage, but, cannot find any detailed information regarding the maximum size, or the preferred size of card that should be used.

Also, how does the size of the card relate to how much storage capacity it adds to the unit?

Thanks in advance.

It'd be silly to get anything beyond 4 GB, just because it's mostly used for caching your Channels (so if you decide to add a ton of channels, you don't have to re-download them as often) and saving game status (like for Angry Birds). I have 16 on mine, but only because it came from an old smartphone.

If you're not playing games, you really don't need a card at all.

+1 to this.

A simple 2-4GB card should do just fine. Anything beyond that would simply be an overkill but don't let that hold you back.
