'What's On?' Fatal Server Error

Sat Apr 05, 2014 8:58 am

For about 3 days, a Fatal Server Error screen comes up each time I attempt to bring up TV listings (both All Channels or Favorite Channels). The Movie Listings works OK. I recycled the roku, then my router. When that didn't fix it, I tried a different zip code. Then I removed and replaced the private channel. Nothing.

Interestingly, antennae no longer shows up as my TV provider and I'm unable to reenter the information.

This private channel worked flawlessly for my OTA channels up to a few days ago. The current settings screen directs me to go to the WHATSONCHANNEL in the roku forum, but I am not able to find that specific site. Any ideas on what might be wrong or where I can go for additional help?

I've been seeing a "TV listings not available" message for the last couple of days. Movie listings are also working Ok here.
My assumption is that the feed the channel is pulling the TV listings from has changed in some way and broken the channel.
This happened once before but was back to normal in a few days. Hopefully the channel developer will be able to fix it this time too.
It's very useful to those of us who also use OTA antennas.
Here's the link to the developer's (belltown) first announcement of the channel. He hasn't posted here in a while,
however, his forum profile says he last visited the forum yesterday.

Thanks for responding. Now that I know I'm not alone, I'll stop dinking around. Sent a message to the developer using your link.
Sure hope he gets it; this has been a neat and accurate grid for OTA channels.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I apologize for the inconvenience. You're correct that the TV Listings are no longer working in my What's On channel.

Unfortunately, the source from which I extract the TV listings has undergone a radical change in how it presents the listings. I'm surprised it hasn't happened sooner. That part of my code has worked perfectly for almost two years. However, now it will need a complete re-write. I'll get to work on it right away and hopefully will have a solution by the end of the weekend.

Thanks for the PMs. I haven't been doing much Roku development for the past year or so, and don't check the forums much any more. The most effective way to get in touch is via PM as they generate an e-mail notification.

I'll be back with an update by Monday at the latest.

Thanks belltown!

Just FYI, the movie trailers also have not been able to play for us for quite awhile. Do they still work for anyone else?

I've noticed some problems with the movie trailers, too. I'm going to take a look at that once I get the TV listings working again.

The TV listings should be working again, as should the movie trailers.

Try updating and make sure you're running Version 2.3 or higher. Also, you'll have to re-select your TV provider in the Settings screen and re-enter any favorites as the channel identification information has changed.

Let me know (preferably by PM) if you encounter any more problems.
