Just blatant theft!

See the lame excuse to distribute content they do NOT own.
Cartoon Network Reboot is not affiliated with Cartoon Network, but a statement on their website claims that "cartoon network reboot exists solely to provide a medium for commentary, criticism, educational review, and research of Cartoon Network as it was during that time period... cartoon network reboot operates strictly under certain provisions listed in the doctrine of "fair use" as codified in section 107 of the copyright law, and monitors the status of related industry legislation such as Bill S.978 (pending) for compliance."

Apparent they think the right to research justifies their theft.
This channel just like the Nick rewind channel should be removed by Roku ASAP before the lazy Viacom lawyer(s) get a clue.

Note below is only my observation:
I would guess Roku lawyers don't know about either channel and Roku developers know, either just concluding it's not their job or some Roku developers like the free channels. Remember Napster tried this research / fair use stupidity to justify illegal distribution of media.

Roku does not have a private channel guide. The site/newsletter you're referring to is not affiliated with Roku in any way. Roku does not monitor or review private channels unless they receive explicit requests from content owners to do so.

Just to be clear, Roku does not own this site?
https://owner.roku.com/add/cnreboot
© 2008-2014 Roku Inc.

I only posted the link in this thread because I thought it somehow had Roku approval.

I get that about Roku guide. My question is does Roku host this page, or how does that work:
https://owner.roku.com/add/cnreboot
© 2008-2014 Roku Inc.

I guess what I'm getting at is: Can anyone just push through a Private Roku Channel without scrutiny from Roku? And does Roku act as a gatekeeper or just opens the gate for anyone and everyone? I only ask because people jumped on this thread so quickly as something 'obviously' illegal, and if it is, does Roku have a mechanism to block such channels? I'm actually more concerned in terms of security of the device and network right now than this particular channel's status.

Excellent questions. Roku has and will remove channels where the content owner contacts them. They do absolutely NOTHING when just an average customer complains about completely blatant copyright distribution infringement. In my opinion Roku does everything legally required without following the spirit of honoring copyright. Roku covers their a$$ legally while enjoying the financially the benefits of the copyright infringement around their products. Not sure if I will get banned here for being hostile to Roku as I think Roku is just one copyright lawyer away from a huge ugly lawsuit.

If it ever came down to a huge ugly lawsuit it would have to include every device out there -- they would have to take on apple, microsoft, google and too many hardware manufacturers and software devs to name.

Don't think networks care too much about old programs being streamed,as long as it's not on youtube or torrent programs where people can download burn and sell the shows on the black market, there are dozens of websites that streams old programs and has done so for years..
