AC/DC Theme

Sat Aug 29, 2015 9:56 am

I turned on the TV today to be greeted by the AC/DC Theme. Is this permanent or just Temporary ? I kinda like it. Your Thoughts.

Since I have a non-"default" theme installed, I was fortunate that it did not autoload for me.

I'm guessing it is a temporary promotion for their current North American Tour.

The two threads should be merged, though I don't feel like reporting it myself...
Charter Spectrum 60; d-link dual band router
Roku 4210, 3710; Xbox One, 360; Samsung BD player
Samsung tablet; Windows Vista laptop; LG phone
Toshiba DVD-R; Sony AVR; Panasonic AR
1080p and 720p TVs

I, too, turn on my Roku and see an AC/DC theme. Not cool. Not at all.

It's one of the Roku themes, it seems, along with Graphene, Decaf, Nebula, and Daydream. I suspect that, since the Options button isn't activated, as it is on themes I added.

Offer it, sure. Make it the active theme? Nope. Particularly since I had chosen a theme (not default). Not cool, Roku. Nope. Nopity nope nope.

How about let's not do that again.

Turns out that my Enable Featured Themes was set to on. Not what I thought. This one's on me.

Well you can always turn off the featured themes in your settings if you don't want things changed when they do promotions. Personally, I adore this theme. If anyone knows how to keep featured themes permanently let me know, otherwise I'll just have to hope they make it buy-able like the Grateful Dead theme. I might actually spend a couple bucks on this one.

I suspect it is paid advertising for the Rdio channel's AC/DC " play the entire catalog " event also being advertised on
the Home page banner. You can change the theme in Settings > Themes.

This is the first of the auto added themes that I really didn't like. Removed it the moment I turned my TV on.

If this keeps up, I mean ones that I don't like. I'll disable allowing seasonal themes and such. Which I hope would prevent it from occuring again if I so desire.

What better way to get in the mood for watching a religious channel than to bask in the greatness that is, AC/DC.

It's AC/DC, not A/C D/C.

This isn't a band of wannabe electricians, y'know.

I like the theme and would keep it if it were a permanent theme, but I doubt it. AC/DC is one of my favorite bands so I thought the theme was pretty cool.

It's just a promotional theme. It will pass. But it's happening more on a regular basis, to see this sort of thing.

This is getting obnoxious. Should be opt-in. Everyone is mostly cool with AC/DC but let them promote a religious channel or some show you hate and you may not feel so cheerful about it. It is enough that 1/3 of my screen is taken up with Roku ads. Leave my theme alone!
BTW I have paid themes. If you want me to buy them, leave them alone after I set them.
