Re: Roku 2 XS (3100X) running new Ver. 7.9037 .... any iss

Shawn,

I had tried that already. It doesn't seem to help. I think the weird doubled up sound effect on button presses is a SYMPTOM of the problem. The underlying condition seems to be doubled responses to any button press, BT or IR.

I just changed the setting today after power cycling to recover from a hang, also had no connection again after that. Will see if anything changes.

PS another vote for "I don't care if you guys call us EOL for all practical purposes and just roll it back to 6.x", though history says that is unlikely.

I've tried disabling the navigation sound effects and the screensaver as suggested by the forum mod ..... no change. In my case, the box exhibits the lockup at the home screen intermittently and erratically. Sometimes it is already locked up when you go to use it; sometimes it locks up shortly after you try to navigate in the home screen. As I have commented in various threads, you know the box is heading south when you start to see those doubled up responses to button presses and the weird doubled up sound effects. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to this problem. I have taken to performing a soft restart (if the remote is responding) every time I want to use the box to head off any other intrigue.....

I tried changing those settings as well. No, they don't improve anything. To me it acts as if the wrong firmware is installed.

I turned the menu audio off a few days ago, and my roku hung up, but after forcing a crash/reboot I have not had any issues.
I have stayed in the netflix channel since and no issues so far.

I'm sometimes able to use the Roku app on my android to control my Roku 2XS with firmware ver 7.9037.

I did not have trouble using the remote control previously, and now I have to power cycle the Roku to get the hardware remote to communicate with the Roku. The LED does not light on the Roku when it becomes non-responsive. It sometimes "wakes up" after several minutes.

Roku Support suggested factory restore... has anyone tried that and seen this issue resolved?

I have the issue too now on my roku 2 xs. It just happened now when I turned on the tv and pushed play on the remote. It resumed my video playback and then froze, letting the video play with no control over it. The light blue light on the roku ditters twice when a remote button is pushed, so the remote is sending and being acknowledged, but nothing happens. I had to unplug the roku to force reboot.

For the last year or so the box has run so well that I just bought a second 2XS off of CL. Three years or whatever after I bought it new, my Roku 2XS finally had the rewind/subtitles working, and was not hanging/rebooting and it had just been great. It was still laggy but acceptable. After that good year or so of proper function, about 2 weeks back, it hung while playing a video - the video kept playing but the remote seemed dead. It happened again so I tossed the batteries that weren't that old and put in fresh ones. A couple days later it happened again... then I noticed some stupid song upon the hard reset/dancing roku. It was then that I looked and saw that it was updated to v7.0 on nov 24, which is a correct timeframe for the problems.

By all means please return us to Nov 23 version - it was the best this Roku2XS ever worked.

My box just updated to build 9044. Let's see if it addresses some of the issues....

Well, what do you know? I was just on chat with Roku support because I thought my problem was the cord. Apparently not.

Yes, this started with a new update. But that begs the question--I thought older devices were no longer being updated as of May 2015. So could the freeze problem have to do with software that's not compatible with Roku 2 XS? Or rather, that was never intended to be compatible.

We have 3 LT boxes and each one has been having this same problem. I tried a factory restore on one of the units and it did not solve the problem. Add one more the list of customers who would really like to roll back to an older version. This is a problem that will drive me away from roku if not fixed asap! What's equally as frustrating is that I called CS well before this thread appeared, and they had no idea there was a problem.
