traveling with Roku

Sat Apr 02, 2016 9:20 pm

Hello. I have a Roku 2. Several channels (ABC, NBC, HBOGO, Starz, etc.) require authentication through a cable TV provider web site. I've done that and it works fine at home.

If I travel with my Roku, with those channels still work? I know it can identify the device by MAC or whatever, but does the connection have to be through the same network where it was first authenticated?

Thanks in advance.

It will still work. I actually set up a Roku that we use at another house with no cable also in hotels with no issues.

The only time you will see problems is with the Time Warner app that actually requires the roku be hooked to the TWC modem .. like the name says TV every where works every where :)

Thanks. I may suggest a Roku for my college student living in an apartment away from home.

We took ours on vacation with us, and it did its job well providing movie night each night after a long day at the beach :) Love the portability of the little box!
