Cordcuttersnews has some info about the firmware update 7.2
Looks like its just for developers. No fixes of problems with the Roku 4 it appears.

Although these updates are for developers, end users will also benefit in two major ways. First, channels should start loading content faster similar to how Netflix and Amazon Video preloads content for faster play back.
Secondly, the new playlist feature should allow auto play on more channels similar to how Netflix and Amazon keep playing the next video when one ends.

Can't wait to hear how people are going to respond to the "major benefit" of more auto play, lol.

Yeah, I don't know why all the channels need autoplay, when no users seem to like it, and a lot of people have bandwidth caps. Seems counter intuitive.

They did fix some sound issues. They already released a update for the fan noise issue.

Also the text to speech option is great for people with bad eyesight.

Maybe they read the Release Notes.

There's no way to know. Roku does not release that kind of information.

Might be nice if they rolled this out to those of us with Roku TVs. PlayStation Vue is not possible without OS 7.1. I find that preposterous.

A better question to ask would be why doesn't your RokuTV have 7.1 yet? Mine has 7.1.4055 since 4/7 ...

Nobody can answer that question. It's a big mystery. I find it foolish.

The first one is a real benefit - now videos can pre-buffer and thus start sooner in some cases.

The second is imaginary - it's not like playing list of videos was impossible before - it's just that one had to do a simple "reload" step. In a way adding this `contentIsPlaylist` is like selling high-capacity magazines for firearms. Will a high-capacity magazine make you a better shot - not really. Will a ban on said magazines prevent mass shootings - not either, it just makes them more "laborious".

Heads-up -
a bonus "feature" of 7.2 is that it will break some channels. Somebody at the Co. has botched an API deprecation process and in result a few (more than one but i don't know who the others are) channels will be crashing ("exiting suddenly").

That's not new. It's the reason why rollbacks are not allowed. The apps will update as well.

Is the 7.2 update for Roku 4 only? Does it apply to Roku 3 and Roku 2? TIA

An issue I see is I had my Roku 4 set to the 4K resolution & when I turned it on this morning the image looked overly bright so I put it back to 1080p & it looked normal again. It didn't look like that yesterday before the update.
