powering on ROKU TV with app

Wed Oct 12, 2016 4:05 am

So, after drowning my Insignia ROKU TV remote in a glass of water (never, ever have a glass of water adjacent to your remote when you're half awake...LQTM), I've been using the app to control my TV. One of the things I've noticed with this app is that it has trouble powering on the TV. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't.

Is there a trick to get this app to work correctly in this aspect? Otherwise, I did purchase another remote (but it doesn't have a power button) and would have to buy--I think--a SideClick to control the power.

I will bring home anyone or anything I choose...including a one eyed Episcopalian kangaroo, if that happens to be my kinky inclination!

the app will power the tv only when it is in "sleep" mode ... once it is totally powered down it is not connected to the net and the app wont work ... that said if it was only water in the glass there is a good chance your remote can be saved
