So it still hasn't been solved for you guys with the 7.5.1 update?

All of my testing has been on a Premiere+ running firmware 7.5.1 build 4075-29. I have tested a variety of HDR material on both Netflix and Amazon Video. The most striking example is during the beginning of The Grand Tour Episode 1 on Amazon when they are driving through the desert - the blue skies have extremely obvious banding (see below). I've tested the same material on my Samsung UBD-K8500 UHD Blu-ray player and I do not have any banding issues. Both are going through the same receiver (Marantz SR7010) and I have tested both on the same input of the receiver. I've also included screen captures of what my receiver notes the input signal is from each device - note that it can't discern the pixel depth from the Roku. Again, the banding does not happen when the Roku is plugged directly into my TV, only when going through the receiver. The TV does indicate that it's receiving an HDR signal from both devices when passed through the receiver.

I'm also having exactly the same issue. It doesn't matter if I go through a receiver or direct I do get the color banding. I also have a Samsung JS8500 2015 model. When disabling HDR the banding issue goes away. When using the Amazon app in the TV I don't get the color banding issue and get a Perfect HDR image. Seems to be related to the 12 bit pixel depth that everyone is talking about. Roku devs, can we at least have an option to set the bit depth to 10bit in a secret menu to overcome our flawed TV processing of the 12 bit signal?

I am also having issues with color banding on my Samsung JS9000 with a Roku Ultra.  I can play the same video through the Amazon app built in to the TV and it plays perfectly with no banding,  but there is very noticeable banding with the Roku.  This is very disappointing to say the least as I love the interface and functions of Rokus and I have several of them, but I will probably get rid of this Roku and never buy another one if they don't fix the color banding issues.  There is simply no excuse to not give the option in settings to output in 10 bit color to avoid banding issues.

I have a Hisense 55H8C and have been getting the color banding issues with Amazon HDR as well, Netflix HDR however seems to be fine. My Roku is plugged directly into the TV. This is my first Roku device and I would love to not have to return it for yet another try at some other streaming device.

Starting in 7.5.1 b4085, we are offering a new feature on a secret screen which may help with color banding on some TVs in 4K HDR mode. Not all units are eligible for this build yet, but if yours is try going to the HDMI secret screen using this key combination:

HOME HOME HOME HOME HOME DOWN LEFT UP UP UP

Try toggling your HDR mode from 4:2:2 to 4:2:0. This will also change you from 12 bit color to 10 bit color.

Please note this option is only for HDR mode, not regular 4K mode.

I went into that secret screen and I saw mine was set to 4:2:0 already

Do certain tv sets trigger it to turn on 12 bit? Also why is 12 bit even in there? Nothing is in 12 bit that I know of.
I turned it to 12 bit to see if I could see the banding others have complained of and it still looked fine on my tv. I couldn't tell any difference so I just turned it back to 4:2:0 10 bit.

Yes. Using 12 bit makes zero sense. Although I never had any banding with my Sony TV at 12 bit, but when they switched to the 12bit output, I couldn't run my ROku Ultra through my HDMi 2.0a switch anymore. So if I'm able to access this screen, I know switching to 420 will allow me to use my HDMI 2.0a Switch again with my Roku Ultra.

I'm on 7.2, any way to get the update so I can try this out? I'm experiencing the banding issue and it makes HDR videos unwatchable which is the only reason I got the Roku in the first place...

I rolled back my Roku Ultra to 7.2.2 after having 7.5 and not liking what it started doing. Now when i check for updates it just sits there and spins until it times out never getting to the point where it says no updates or you are up to date. Everything is working fine in 7.2.2 any suggestions on how i can get  or see new updates,  do i do a factory reset.

EDIT: IT SEEMED TO BE WORKING, BUT AFTER JUST A FEW MINUTES, I LOST THE PICTURE AGAIN. I STILL HAVE AUDIO, JUST NO VIDEO. RATS! I THOUGHT WE HAD A FIX!
I never had any banding problems but, no matter what I tried, I have NOT been able to get my Ultra to work through my Denon AVR-S920W receiver. I tried numerous different HDMI cables, etc.On a hunch, I went into the "secret screen" and made the changes suggested to fix banding.  This change, however, did the trick! Thanks, all!

LDBetaGuy was your Roku set to 4:2:2 12 bit color when you went into the menu and then you turned it to 4:2:0 10 bit or vice versa?
Wondering why some default to 10 bit like mine did and some default to 12 bit.

I'm in the same boat... my Roku actually showed 7.2.2 as an "update" from the 7.5 that was installed so I figured it was wanting to rollback on purpose for some reason.  After rolling back to 7.2.2 I read on this thread that there is a way to enable 10 bit color and now my Roku won't update to 7.5.... sigh.
