Re: Are you annoyed with Amazon channel changes?

Yes, this new interface is on Roku 3s.

After I wrote the original topic, I got a new Amazon channel update, (litterally
24 hours after I opened the case / ticket). But, no obvious changes.

I too dis-like how long loading takes, (in addition to the loss of forward and
back by one).

About 2 years ago I reduced my renting and purchasing from Amazon
SIGNIFICANTLY. The user interface had gotten clumsy during playback for
returning to the current location. Meaning I would want to skip the titles or
boring scene. But, going forward I find that the new 10 seconds is what I
want, so I would want to start back where I was.

Vudu and Netflix have that option in their Roku interfaces, but Amazon does
not. I litterally have to re-buffer the video, even though I was paused. Now it's
10 times worse, since I have to use the fast forward, (or fast rewind), to skip
over titles and slow scenes.

Had my first taste of the new interface last night.  Coupled with the "HDCP" drops (and yes, everything I have is legal and high quality cabling) that came with the latest Roku update, this device is getting to be unusable.

On my Roku 3, my skip back button still works, but fast forward/reverse is a lot harder to use.  Also there is now only the one closed caption option.

What really gets me is that when scroll through the episodes, it no longer just stops when you reach the end:  it kicks you back to a much higher menu.  It also won't let you look at "all" seasons.  What a complete waste of programming this one is.

Oh, and when you open a season, it shows the LAST  episode, and all the others are off screen to the left.

Yet another black mark on Amazon, which cannot ship on promised schedules, can't ship the right things (may returns for them sending the wrong items lately), and has made the Kindles unusable for many folks t hat cannot work with a touch interface.  They just don't care any more..  This has been a major fall, as they used to be good!

I want the old interface back, and want ROKU to roll back their firmware update!

Though I agree with the rest of your post, the former thing won't happen (all currently sold devices now use the same interface, and some have been using it for awhile meaning it is intentional), and the latter cannot happen (it would screw-up all other apps that depend on it).

I too wish for the old Amazon video on demand channel. But, it's Amazon that controls it,
not Roku & Co. So someone else gets my video rental & purchase money, and has been
since the last screw up 2 years ago.

The recent Amazon channel change adds in more annoyances. The forward and back buttons no
longer move one segment, (a few seconds). They activate a new menu that does not allow that
function, only fast forward and fast rewind. Roku 3, model 4200X.

And yes, I contacted Amazon. Even got a case ID 0099081040.

Anyone else annoyed with this reduction is user friendlyness?

I haven't used Roku's version of Amazon much lately, but I like the change as it is similar to the UI on my Blu-Ray player and at least they got rid of that gray screen that pops up toward the end of an episode before that episode actually goes to it's respective credits, etc. I use Amazon on Roku and on Fire TV and the one negative I can see with the Fire TV's UI for Amazon is it's cluttered and watchlist is not separated by Movies/TV, etc. Roku doesn't have that problem, which is something that I appreciate.

Yes, I guess I need to give credit to Amazon since they did improve a
few things.

My biggest objection is that they removed the right and left function to
go forward or back one video segment, (a few seconds). This removes
the ability to easily skip the title sequence, or boring part.

On other thing I forgot to mention is that they have brolen some videos.

For example, trying to watch "Doctor Who, Specials season 2" got some
kind of error, "Error Code: 9075". The videos are clearly listed as Amazon
Prime videos, (which I have the subscription to), and have played in the
past. I tried to look it up on the web site like it said I should, but it's not listed.

That is a bug.  I can search and play "Doctor Who Best of Specials Season 2" on Fire TV Stick, TiVo Bolt and Xbox One.

Strange, I've watched all the Christmas specials over the last week. Of course, I finished them several days ago, so perhaps it's a new problem. I did just watch Season 901 about 1/2 hour ago.

Yes, the regular seasons seemed to work. Just that specific group was broke.

P.S. Loved last Christmas' special, "The Husbands of River Song". Even though
it implies that's the last we see of River, we have "time travel", so we might get
fill in episodes from before the singing towers, (from River's perspective).

I am having a hard time finding purchased content and my watchlist items everything seems to be misplaced or missing.  Also Remove Navigation on my Harmony remote now skips 2 places when pressed once which is annoying.

From what I can tell, the purchased content is listed as your video library, lower left.
I was able to find my content there, but it's a clumsy interface. Whence you have
selected your video library, you have to check the top left. It has movies and series
categories. If you make the wrong press, it takes you out of your video library.

All in all, 2 thumbs down Amazon!

Found another annoyance with the new Amazon channel. Stopping a video, (not pause), then
starting to play it later, does not resume close to where it stopped. Litterally 1 to 2 minutes before
I stopped.

With the clumsy fast forward, (since they removed the normal forward), I can't get to the location
again easily. Wasting time, and as they say, time is money.
