High data usage with more than one Roku stick

Sat Dec 24, 2016 8:54 am

Hi - I bought a Roku streaming stick for one TV and used it for about 2 weeks.  My data usage was less than 10 GB/day.  I then bought 2 more sticks for my other 2 TVs and my usage jumped to about 50 GB/day.  At most my total viewing time is no more than 2 to 2.5 times higher.  Any idea what is happening?

Depends on the type of streaming you're doing.. Maybe you've been watching higher quality streams, which take up more data. I'd say you have to do a long term sampling.. It's only been a few weeks.
Yeah, I got some Rokus.

Thanks. I plan on doing that.  We just watch TV channels on Playstation Vue so I was surprised.

Do you use Netflix?

They started doing auto play of previews, in addition to auto play of videos.
The post auto play next can be disabled through the Netflix web site.

Hi - A follow up to my problem.  It seems if I just turned off my TVs while watch a show on Playstation Vue it just kept on downloading,  I now close the show I am watching before I turn off the TV and my usage has dropped almost to zip.  Thanks for your suggestions.
