D-Link DNS-323 Setup

Thu Apr 07, 2011 4:29 am

Hi all, i have looked at many many threads about the 323, but none to me make much sense!(Sorry not to clued up on computer stuff)
What i would like to know in plain english (IE for stupid me) how to marry up the DNS-323 and my M1001, the M1001 can see the 323 but cannot see any files on it.
Any help would be greatly accepted!
Thanks in advance Michael

Hi, if you mean,
'Server Enabled' = Yes it can be seen and used by other computers ( I think thats what you mean)
'Configure The NAS' = I followed the instruction from D-Link to be used for music. Yes
What do you mean container?
If you mean - \\DLINK-938E42\Volume_1\Music , then yes
Not sure if that answers your question, i hope it does.
Thanks in advance

That looks like a Windows Share. The SoundBridge can't access network shares. You have to enable and configure your NAS's UPnP-AV server and/or iTunes Server (please see pages 33 and 34 of the manual).

I have been happily using a DNS-323 for several years. Here's my setup:

In the web browser where you access the controlling 'software', click on the 'Advanced' tab.

On the left side, click on 'UPnP AV SERVER'. Make sure the 'Disable' button is selected. Click on 'Save Settings'.

Do the same for 'DHCP SERVER'. Make sure it is disabled and save the settings.

Now click on 'iTunes SERVER'. Choose 'Enable'. Set the Folder where your music is located. Once again, click on 'Save Settings'.

Note that in this version of iTunes, the Playlist function which shows up on the Roku menu doesn't function.

Hi all, sorry been away so only just tried the above advise, thanks '46jimbo' :D it seems to work now, but now it does not seem to find all files. I have checked the log files on Firefly, and it keeps on saying ' 2011-04-15 12:15:51 (37a67d55): Short read: \\DLINK-938E42\Volume_1\Music\Bad Manners - 14.Classic.Albums\Bad Manners - Viva La Ska Revolution\Bad Manners - Viva La Ska Revolution (CD1)\Bad Manners - Viva la Ska Revolution - 13 - Gonna Get Along Without You (Radio Mix).mp3
2011-04-15 12:16:04 (37a67d55): Short read: \\DLINK-938E42\Volume_1\Music\Bad Manners - 14.Classic.Albums\Bad Manners - Viva La Ska Revolution\Bad Manners - Viva La Ska Revolution (CD2)\Bad Manners - Viva la Ska Revolution(2) - 08 - Walking in the Sunshine (Live).mp3

These are just two examples, as there are to many to read. For instance i have one Artist folder with over 4000 files(I know some are just image files in there aswell)
and the soumdbridge can only see about 100 files????
Thanks all
