LAN not working?

Mon Jul 16, 2012 9:15 pm

I just got a new wireless router, a netgear WNDR4500. I've always had my M1001 hardwired to the router, but now I cannot acces the internet or the network with the soundbridge. Also, obviously, I cannot see the soundbridge on the network.

The soundbridge is giviing me a IP address of when I try to connect via the hard line. I have tried to enter that in for a static IP address but it is invalid of course.

I can connect wirelessly however, I would just prefer that the connection stays via the ethernet cable due to stability. The IP wirelessly is a good

Any thoughts on why this may be?

IP addresses starting 169.254 are link-local addresses, assigned when a DHCP server cannot be found (ref).

Did you reboot the Soundbridge after replacing the router?

A possible cause is that a static IP address has been set on the Soundbridge ethernet i/f and its subnet is not compatible with the new router. For example your old router subnet may have been 192.168.1 and the new one is 192.168.0. The static address can be removed by selecting the "Reset to factory default" option on the Soundbridge but be aware that this will wipe all of your presets.
