BBC radio stations (again!)

Tue Jan 29, 2013 8:17 am

Hello,

I know the issue of connecting Soundbridge to BBC radio stations has been aired several (many?) times, but I am puzzled as to why one of my devices will connect, and the other won't.

I recently bought a Roku M1000 and a Pinnacle M1001 on eBay (having bricked an M1000 by connecting up a power supply the wrong way round!), and both are Ethernet-connected to the same local network. The M1001 happily connects to (e.g.) BBC Radio 2 (using the url http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/listen/live/r2.asx), whereas the M1000 goes into endless tries with the same url.

Both are on firmware version 3.0.44, so is this down to a hardware difference?

...seem to have solved my own problem here! :D

Had url set up for BBC Radio 2 (courtesy of RadioRoku) as: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/listen/live/r2.asx. Pinnacle M1001 connects OK, but Roku M1000 just keeps re-trying. I changed the url to http://bbc.co.uk/radio/listen/live/r2.asx (without the www bit) and the M1000 is as happy as Larry...

Oh well!

Tip: If you use the Soundbridge to browse/search for stations and save it as a preset from there, rather than updating the preset list manually in a browser, the radio will be automatically redirected to any new URL set by the RadioRoku moderator.
