m500-new router-invalid password

Mon Apr 29, 2013 12:25 pm

After many years of enjoying my M500, I upgraded internet connection and router to a Netgear N600. The unit sees my network/router. When entering the WEP key to reconfigure the Soundbridge, a message comes up saying "password is in an invalid format, check and re-enter," or some such. My router says it should be 802.11b back-compatible. It runs just fine when wired directly to router. Does anyone have any tips?

Jimmy,

welcome to the forums.

Your new router most certainly uses WPA2 security which the M500 doesn't support. You'll either have to configure the N600 to use WEP (not recommended, though) or run the M500 wired.

Thank you for the response. That is what I feared from the research I had done earlier, but I had hoped some genius on the forum had found a workaround. Anyone looking for a nice M500 let me know.

The best workaround is to get a wireless bridge that supports WPA/WPA2, put the Bridge on your network then connect the Soundbridge wired to it.
Netgear WNR2000v2
Linksys WRT54G with DD-WRT Firmware acting as Client Bridge
Soundbridge M2000/M500/R1000
Roku 2 XS 3100
