HELP M1000 & iTunes 7

Am I correct in thinking there is still an issue with iTunes 7 and M1000?

I can see the library but fails when i try to connect to it - is that what the issue is?

I've looked through that thread but it doesn't say whether the issue is resolved or not - Do I assume it is not?

It is totally inexcusable that the issue with iTune 7.0 is not listed PROMINENTLY on the troubleshooting page. The fact that it is not listed at all seem malicious. Not a good way to start a relationship with this previously giddy new owner.

My soundbridge says its software is up to date, and I still can't connect to iTunes 7.0 -- after 2 months?

That's right. We're still working on it. Unfortunately, when things involve both engineering and contracts, they don't always move quickly.

The iTunes 7 issue is called out at the top of the SoundBridge support page. Look for "Important announcements"

I am curently stuck in 'no man's land' with the iTunes 7.0 situation. I upgraded to 7.0 without knowing it would not work with my M1000.

Can anyone tell me if there is a way (a web site etc) to revert back to an older version of iTunes that is compatible with the Soundbridge?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You might also give firefly a try, it uses far less resources than iTunes, but uses your iTunes library.

there are instructions for downgrading from v.7 back to v.6 knocking around these fora, both for mac & pc users.

the process is slightly different between platforms so make sure you follow the correct instructions, there are links for downloading the older version as well.

have a search around & you'll turn up the relevant posts.

Before downgrading iT to an earlier version, I strongly recommend you try Firefly. It works seamlessly with iT 7. Its really just a little bridge between iT and SB and replaces the server bit of iTunes. All your playlists etc from iT7 work just fine. If you get FF to work as 98% of people do first time, you'll wonder what all the fuss was about. If you don't you can downgrade iT back to v6. Just remember there are some downsides to not having the latest iT if you use the download service or an iPod

Thank you all for your speedy posts and recommendations. I took your advice and downloaded Firefly. After some challenges with the firewall port (that I fixed thanks to these forums), my M1000 is now up and running again.
Now my only issue is that the Firefly is not 'seeing' the many playlists that I have have in my iTunes.
I will dig through the forums to hopefully find the solution, but if you have any easy fixes, please help again.
I am pretty new at this stuff, but I can follow directions well.

I'd turn on the log and see if it can give any clues. also check to see in the config that process m3u is on.

Dan,

you need to ensure that you have FF pointing to where your itunes .xml file is at. If you have your music stored someplace other than the default itunes location the important point to bear in mind is not so much that place but where the .xml file is. The .xml file contains the information needed to pick up your playlists and serve them to FF. So do a search for it (if you're not sure where it is) and in the configuration page of FF web interface have FF point to that location. Then rescan and you should be set.

You can check that FF has found the playlists by going into itunes and expanding your Firefly entry in the Source column on the left side of the itunes interface. You should now see them there.
