Can't get Developer Mode

I am using a Roku Digital Video Player (model N1000) , software version 2.4, build 357.

Starting from the Home menu, I press:

1) the Home button on my remote 3 times,
2) followed by the Up Arrow twice,
3) followed by the Right-Left arrow sequence twice and finally
4) a Right Arrow

Nothing happens (except that I end up one selection leftward, the Netflix menu in my case). I have telneted successfully onto the device and run genkey. The device seems, otherwise, to be functioning well.

Have I left something out? Are there any troubleshooting steps I can perform?

Have a deliberate cadence when entering the remote keys, pausing about half a second between each press. You know you are successful when it brings up the "developer settings" page.

I knew that my reluctance to play video games would bite me on the ass one day...apparently I was entering the code too slow.
