Screensaver development question

Is it possible to create a screen saver that does not flicker like the built in ones do, instead just move images across the screen smoothly? There is nothing more annoying than falling asleep watching a movie and waking up to the damn image flashing every few seconds. Before I spend a few days learning to code for roku, would be nice to know that I can actually accomplish what I'm setting out to do!

Further, is it possible to call some kind of video monitor off routine so the video screen is allowed to shut down completely like it does when it is connected to my Mac or pc? My roku HD is connected via hdmi to an nice flatscreen lg monitor.

Thanks,

Joel

Re: Screensaver development question

You can pretty much do whatever you want with the image on the screensaver by using an roImageCanvas. Check out the Headlines screensaver or my Time & Weather screensaver for examples (attempts?) at smooth movement. My experience has been that the box is no graphics powerhouse when it comes to animation, so it's hard to say if you'll be able to accomplish what you want. You'll just have to try.

I believe there is no way to turn off the video output altogether.
