Video Black Levels Using Calibration DVD

Sat Jul 30, 2005 4:56 pm

I have ripped my copy of DVE so that I can cailbrate the Roku input to my plasma.

I cannot display the blacker than black bar on the pluge test. The accompanying notes say that some devices clip the video level so that BTB and WTW do not pass.

Is that true for the Roku?

Was about to do similar, so when I get my HDTV I could calibrate the component inputs, so interested in Roku's response too (though I doubt we'll here from them, they seem very scarce here in their forums).

Actually I have found them to be pretty responsive. I am guessing that, due to the pressure of work, they only reply to the more difficult questions the "ordinary" members cannot easily answer. Anyway, let's wait and see.
