Aww, what, no beer aficionados?
I don't know how snobbish you'll consider the recommendations
Someone turned me on to the Samuel Smith Brewery a few years back, I like most of the brews I've tried from them:http://www.merchantduvin.com/brew-samuel-smith.php
and then there's Boddington's (I've only had the Pub Ale variety you can get in the states):http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boddingtons
The Pub Ale is pale, but tastes very much like a Guinness Stout
You probably won't be able to get this locally, but whenever I went to visit my brother at Ithaca college the Ithaca Beer Company had a few different brews I liked (predominantly Nut Brown and Pale Ale)http://ithacabeer.com/category/beers/year_round/
Cool, I DID already buy a Samuel Smith stout, and I've had plenty of Boddington's in the past (tasty!).. I will try to get my hands on the Ithaca Nut Brown.
Around here in Wisconsin, our local favorites are Lakefront Brewery beers, New Glarus, Point Beer, and Capitol Brewing.. There's many others but Lakefront is my go-to for a microbrew. New Glarus ONLY sells in Wisconsin though (company policy), but their Spotted Cow is a light, tasty ale.
Yeah, I got some Rokus.
