Select Your NetFlix Experience -- PS3 only for the moment

Tue Mar 06, 2012 7:52 pm

NetFlix did a great job with the new interface on the PS3. I hope they bring this to the ROKU app. You have to see it to appreciate it.

I tried to google it but I didn't find any pictures. They divided into NetFlix and NetFlix for kids. The kids section is more user friendly and now I don't have to have a separate account for them.

That sounds great! +1 for Netflix bringing it to Roku.

I don't know if the Roku can do it though. The PS3 can do two distinct video feeds at one time as part of the high end Blu Ray spec. That's why it can play Hulu so easily with the complicated menu. The Roku doesn't have the same power. That aside some version might work. Using the much maligned star button to bounce between perhaps though I'd rather see it used for subtitles on the fly like the PS3 has.

For those lacking a ps3, well what the heck is wrong with you. It's the bomb.

1- it asks when you start which you want, that's bad. I don't want to be prompted all the time.
2- pressing select in the kids version bounces you to the main screen, in the adult version it simply launches the kid version
3- the kid version uses thumbnails for the search and goes by title as far as I can tell. The adult version uses a text list and searches by title and name simultaneously via frames
4- kid version as would be expected hides non-kid titles.
5- Selena Gomez is actually quite cute now. When did that happen? Apparently she sings as well.
5a- no relation to the Adam's family, right ?

Why does the star button get no love? Shame on Roku for that.

Not that I care but can someone confirm or deny if there are / will be a password option to lock the kids into kid mode? I think it's pointless but we know someone will ask for it.
