Private Development?

Since it looks like owners have been left high and dry, has anyone come across sites which are still actively working on this hardware? It is still VERY usable so it's sad to see nothing from the manufacturing side either.

On the software side, there is still lots of development going by third-party developers. See my list of third-party apps here:

I don't know of any company that has taken over hardware development from Roku. The Xilleon chip on which it is based is still available, and the sources to the Linux kernel they use are published on the Roku website, so conceivably someone could produce a similar unit.

However, the Cascade API and main GUI have never been released outside of Roku, so the third-party applications wouldn't work without a lot of reverse engineering of Cascade.

Yes, it is a great box. With the HDTV market really exploding you'd think Roku could resume production and sell PhotoBridges like hotcakes.

- Fix the power supply.
- Add more memory for internal storage
- Etc...
