Can PAL support be expected soon?

Wed Mar 30, 2005 4:25 am

Or is it a pipe dream?

My NTSC HD files play fine.
PAL support has got to be getting close.....surely?!!!

The PB is getting nearer and nearer to being a viable HD media hub for those of us with HDV camcorders.

But PAL support is starting to seem like some tempting fruit dangling just out of reach.... so near yet so far away :(

Pal in SD can be played with FW 2.0.15, not perfect though but resonably watchable. I am with you on this request. Please improve the quality of Pal-NTSC conversion.

According to the beta release notes available here: http://www.rokulabs.com/support/HD10002.0Beta.php

We have added very preliminary support for PAL video modes. Currently only composite and SVideo modes are supported (576i). This clears up the problem with jerky playback of PAL MPEG2 program stream files, but unfortunately NTSC program stream files do not playback correctly when in PAL mode. It is unknown, but unlikely, that PAL program stream files will work in NTSC mode and it is also unlikely that NTSC files will work in PAL mode, but we are still investigating. And, don’t worry – we plan to add HD PAL modes in 2.0 final. Thanks, and enjoy the 2.0.10 features!

"initial SD Pal support".....:-(
I have tested the SD Pal with 2.0.15. Still not perfect but resonably watchable.
Please, improve the Pal-NTSC conversion.
Regards,
