It's still only noon on the west coast :)

I personally don't care if it is this friday or next one or in a month. As long as it gets finished and is stable (and they surprise us with few extra features we were not expecting :) ).

Could be due to the fact that PAL HD support is a lot harder than anyone wants to admit...

I get the feeling from the tardiness of other HD Media players entering the PAL marketplace that Roku isn't alone in this regard...

PAL SD support would be a start... I'm not going to bash the Roku guys on this because I'm sure if it was simple they would have had it nailed down by now, but it's frustrating when you can only play 60Hz source material without stuttering...

Is the PB actively marketed in countries where PAL is the standard (I know, rhetorical question, it isn't really 'actively' marketed anywhere is it...)? Considering Roku is a USA company, I'd bet a VERY high proportion of existing customers don't even know what PAL is, let alone care if the PB supports it. It WOULD be a nice feature to have, as I've got quite a few PAL DVD's that I can't play any more since my region-free DVD player died and new one doesn't have a hack, BUT, the vast majority of customers would be better served by fixes to other stuff. I sincerely HOPE they wouldn't hold up releasing a beta (or final) that fixes many other things solely because PAL doesn't work good.

There is a world outside the USA!!! I doubt very much the delay is down to PAL issues, but I can live in hope :wink: ...

I'm one of those naive to PAL and its issues. I think that Roku is spending the extra time to get ready a really kicking release.

RokuDon said he was almost ready a few weeks ago. They must have decided to throw in a few more features, maybe the hooks for true dvd navigation, or maybe something new, something we don't even know about.

We're in the trust tree right?

I have it first hand from a guy that knows where RokuDon used to order pizza that the update was going to be this week until SimonO went and ruined it for the rest of us.
