Getting closer

Running rc.local from telnet starts the .flashrc-local and it works.

So why does the rc.local not start on reboot?
Does it have to be in the inittab?

Jan,

I would guess that .flashrc.local starts to execute too quickly during boot up, before the entire operating system, etc. has loaded. Try adding a sleep statement, such as sleep 30.

hm....

Now I have .flashrc.local

sleep 60
PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/bin
photo -s -d /mnt/flash1 &

what happens on a reboot is it take 60 sec longer before the Roku Logo disapear and the files does still not start to play.

Any sugestion?

While I know you've declared PATH, I'd be more comfortable with:
/usr/local/bin/photo -s d /mnt/flash1 &

Saying that, I think the sleep might help, but slightly reordered.
Maybe if you rename .flashrc.local to myphoto (and put this on the flash card also), you could change your .flashrc.local to something like

/mnt/flash1/myphoto &

So it will call your myphoto, but not wait for it to respond (so the Roku can continue booting)

Then the first line of myphoto could have the sleep (as you currently have it) and hopefully the photo app would start when the machine is fully booted (if that makes sense).

It works :D

.flashrc.local
PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/bin
/mnt/flash1/.autoplay &

.autoplay
sleep 30
PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/bin
photo -s -d /mnt/flash1 &

.autoexec.roku
PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/bin
photo -s -d /mnt/flash1 &

all 3 files on the FlashCard and it will play whatever the power is recycled or the CF has been taken out for update and put back

Thank you
Jan
