Where to buy and if to buy

Mon Nov 14, 2005 9:11 pm

Well it would appear that the HD1K is becomming increasingly hard to come-by. Have they stopped manufacturing them?

Obviously the low traffic rate on this forum could indicate so. I'm contemplating buying another box for my bedroom, but that's only if this thing has a future.

Obviously no feedback from Roku does not help people like myselves. Originally when I purchased the box I chose it because it supported HD. I'm sure there are other products out there now that support HD... are there? If so, maybe this is time to have a review of what else is available.

They are still being manufactured. Apparently there is some delay that will cause them to miss the holiday shopping season, however. :-(

You can still get a refurbished Rev A model direct from Roku without any delay.

You could also try online dealers. These claim to have brand new units in stock:

From the lack of info/feedback from ROKU support and their input to this forum, I'm starting to get the feeling that what I'm looking for is not going to be available in the HD1K... so I am moving on. If you're interested, I've got a rev B version for sale.

HD1000 for sale

Sat Dec 03, 2005 12:44 pm

I also have a unit for sale. Got it July of 2004, very little usage (was waiting for the AAC compatibility to really take advantage of it). Serial number is K3A002348 and I have a Nature Pack CF that goes with it. $100

Um.. AAC has been supported for quite some time in the 2.0 beta. soiaf has even written a codec that will do ALAC. Or was is protected AAC you were waiting for?

Sorry, I wasn't as detailed as I might have been. AAC was not available (or wasn't working for me) at the time I got a Mac mini and boxed up the Roku. My mini works great with my Sony HDTV and I have Front Row running on it so I'm set. :D

BTW: I sold the HD1000 to a forum member, thanks for all the inquiries.
