I'm New to ROKU - Where's the free stuff?

Sat Feb 26, 2011 10:23 pm

So I bought a ROKU to get easier access to my Netflix subscription, and all the "free" stuff that the ads talked about. Does anyone have a listing of where to find the free channels? I started looking through the channels to find, oh - this one's a subsciption, that one's a membership... Would be nice to have a starting point. Anyone? :?

That's only private channels. There are plenty of free public channels:

Pandora, Flickr, Facebook, Revision3, Roku Newscaster, Cnet, Crackle, Flixster, Crunchyroll, Kidlet, Baeble, Blastro, Roxwell, etc. etc. etc.

See all public channels (free and premium): http://www.roku.com/roku-channel-store

It will say, "Additional charges may apply" if it requires a subscription.

You enter the codes on that listing mike_b linked to on the form on this page of your Roku account:

The channel store will usually tell you in the decription whether there is a fee involved. Although it would be nice to see an indication of that (maybe just a $ in the little blurb that pops up when you have the channel icon in the selection box before you click on it. Oh, and when you see the phrase "Service may require additional fees", you can usualy be certain there's no "may" about it at all - it will require a fee.
