Can you access streaming websites on Roku?

Fri Jun 15, 2012 10:05 pm

I am a HUGE boxing fan.

There are tons of websites that offer streaming video that I would love to be able to watch on my Roku.

TopRank.tv
Boxingchannel.tv
wbc.tv

Is there any way to access these kinds of sites/videos via Roku?

Thanks for your help

Generally, no. Streams for the Roku need to be of a specific format, and someone needs to form a channel to bring the stream in. The Roku isn't a website browser.

if you like a wide variety of boxing, there is some boxing on roku - on both the iTunes Podcast channel and nowhereTV, under "government," there's Armed Forces Boxing Championship. - on nowhereTV it's under government and then "the pentagon channel"
the pentagon channel is also available as a free standalone private channel

NowhereTV also has classic/greatest hits HBO boxing videos and ringside audio of some recent matches
for paid channels, wealthTV has some boxing but i'm not certain of the content
N1000, roku1 XD/s, roku2 xs, roku3
wireless
speed range from ~18-20mbps

PM or tweet me if you want a channel added to my list, a correction or to update a developers' credit

You should contact those websites and ask them to develop a Roku Channel. That's the ultimate solution to your boxing needs. One of those sites had iOS apps, so they are open to the idea of creating apps for outlets other than the browser.
