TVersity transcoding

Thu Dec 20, 2007 10:50 am

I just recently inherited an old P4 box that I decided to convert to a dedicated TVersity 'server'. I downloaded the latest version but had little success getting it to transcode to the PB.
The other media streamer has disappeared in favor of a MPEG1-2 selection, so I downloaded an earlier version without any more success :(
Anybody had success with those versions ?
What's the latest known to work version for the PB and where can I get it ?

Every time I've try TVersity, I give up.
I've tried essentially ever "server" I can find, Windows and Linux. Every now and then I make the rounds of servers and download/install and try 'em out.
Seems no UPnP "server" exists that "knows" or can be forced to know the Photobridge. Seems to me it should be a simple device profile (only MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 video, and either MPEG or AC-3 audio), but alas no such luck.

I fall back every to offline transcoding with VLC or PS3Video9 to make either an MPEG-2 .ts or .mpg ps. And watch 'em via MPlay off an NFS share.
