I also have a M1001 and it's sad to hear that that good device died Sad
But as I know inside this device is linux so i think that Roku should publish source code, if they don't want devlop it anymore. Of coure without propety stuff like iTunes.
When we will have some base then we can start to develop new softwre.

Well, it would be nice but let's face it: This won't happen. Most companies don't like to do that. And as this company hasn't done it with the PhotoBridge they also wont with the now EOL SoundBridges. Simple fact.

Whenever it happens that a device develops a 2nd life through user development then it is usually through someone feeling tempted to hack into it and "open" it.
So our hope for that can only be based on such an approach.
Not that I want to encourage someone to do it by this post. Nooo way. 8-;
Those who sacrifice freedom over safety deserve neither.

This can't happen, because major parts of the code aren't owned by Roku, but by Analog Devices, the manufacturer of the Blackfin board.

And as regards hacking, you might want to read this.

Still waiiting for Support....

Sun Oct 26, 2008 8:17 am

Been almost a week since I asked a simple question. No response yet.

So much for 48 hour response times mentioned in their reply bot.

Got a response

Tue Oct 28, 2008 11:05 am

In fairness to Roku, I got a very complete response to my support question yesterday from Lyndon. It took almost a week, but I got what I needed.

Again in fairness to Roku - support from most tech companies sucks. We're now the support team - the users of this site.

Example - I have emailed Miglia (tv tuners for computers) 3 times asking a simple question about a product I want to BUY. No response.

If I ran my business like this, my family and I would be living in a box.

Have you been to Taiwan or Korea? I think many of these companies' employees do indeed live in boxes.

I really would like to know if the listed Moderator for all the Soundbridge and Radioroku.com forums called RokuTed actually exists, for I know RokuLyndon posts to these forums, but I never see responses from RokuTed. He appears to be about as much use to us here as a chocolate teapot
