Ah! Interesting. I'll have to google Mr. Wood and check out the previous 5. I guess I could have thought to google "Roku's" meaning in the first place.

Thanks kc

Here's the official bio from Roku's management page:

Anthony Wood has been the CEO since the inception of Roku. Prior to Roku, Anthony invented the digital video recorder (DVR) and founded ReplayTV, where he served as President and CEO before the company's acquisition, and subsequent sale to DirecTV. Before ReplayTV, Anthony was Founder and CEO of iband, Inc., an Internet software company sold to Macromedia in 1996, whose code base became a central part of the original core code of Macromedia Dreamweaver. At Macromedia, Anthony was vice president of Internet Authoring. Earlier in his career, Anthony was Founder and CEO of SunRize Industries, a leading supplier of hardware and software tools for non-linear audio recording and editing. Anthony holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Texas A&M University

After reading the bio, I guess "been involved with" would be more correct than "started".

roku means an awesome piece of equipment that provides hours of entertainment for free or close to free prices. It could be better, but for the price, and for what it is at the time, it is a great piece of equipment for everyone, thanks roku, looking forward to the great things you plan to offer in the future....

The wiki Roku page says:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roku
The company was founded by ReplayTV founder Anthony Wood.

So, I think you were initially correct.

Roku is also Japanese for "rebuffering/reloading, please wait" as in what you see instead of MLB.tv.
