I've been away from the forums for a while, and it looks like I picked a good time to return, with some great new discoveries here, like streaming Spotify!!

I'm hoping to be able to stream my Icecast webstream to my M1000, and admittedly I'm not the tech-savviest out there. I direct listeners to the stream with live.djeddieo.com, or they can load http://wifi.djeddieo.com:8000/live into their iTunes/WMP/MediaMonkey etc....how would I get my Roku to one of those URL's?

Can I use iTunes to play internet radio?

Yes. You can play radio stations from an iTunes playlist. Simply open the station in iTunes, drag and drop it into a playlist that you have created, and then select that playlist for playback on the SoundBridge.

Since I already have an iTunes playlist set up for Internet Radio stations, I added mine, using my "internal IP address; you would use http://24.218.129.71:8000/live or http://wifi.djeddieo.com:8000/live (I give out the latter in case my IP address changes, then I can just change where it points).
Now, I can play my webstream in iTunes but it won't play in the iTunes playlist thru the Roku. I don't know why Roku can play, for example, http://208.80.52.108:80/KDLDFMCMP3 but not http://wifi.djeddieo.com:8000/live Can anyone out there try it please in your iTunes as well as in your Roku?

Yes you can, but I think the information provided is too limited.
For instance;
- What kind of solution do you have in mind?
- On what OS should this solution run?

You could use this setup, which runs on almost everything.
REMARK; With this solution, you need an mpd client to control the music.

This solution is not for the faint hearted.
I recommend to start with a basic setup, were mpd uses/plays a simple mp3 file.

I didn't mean to leave anything out, but I guess I thought those URLs kind of indicated that I already have an Icecast server set up, and I play thru Winamp with the Edcast plugin. I agree that setting it up was not for the faint of heart, but now that it is set up, and I've had friends successfully listen in different states and countries, I would have thought it simple to get it downstairs on my Roku, especially since I can get it to play in my iTunes. Like my second post says, when I load my Internet Radio iTunes playlist in the Roku, it plays some streams, but not mine. THAT's the essence of my question: why not mine?

He probably put the audio URL into one of his SoundBridge's Presets (see http://forums.roku.com/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=17515)

Did you need this to work via iTunes? I'm not sure why - but I can't really help there since I don't use iTunes. You can't search for it on the Roku since it would not be in the RadioRoku database unless you requested to have it added.

I'd be happy to get it to play in the Roku ANY WAY I CAN. I only referenced the iTunes method because (a) that was something I read on the Soundbridge support page and (b) it's an indication that the webstream URL is indeed viable. I viewed the post linked in dupondt's reply above (thanks for that BTW) but I must be doing THAT wrong too. dupondt says "Simply open the page http://IP.of.your.SoundBridge/SoundBridgePresets.html with your browser." I went to http://www.radioroku.com/mydevices.php to find my Soundbridge's IP address and added /soundbridgepresets.html and could not connect. (I assume I shouldn't post my Sondbridge's IP here)

Is that IP Address the same that is listed here:
Check the IP address that you are getting on your SoundBridge by going to
System Configuration > Show Wired Ethernet Status or
System Configuration > Show WiFi Status (depending on how you have it set up) from the SoundBridge main menu. You will need to scroll down to find the IP address.

What happens if you just input the IP address into your browser?

well, I went downstairs to the Soundbridge to check, and, lo and behold, it's off (would that be why I couldn't access the IP?) I swear it was on when I started this exercise.....worse, it won't turn back on. I just replaced the power supply in February. My wife warned me that Mercury would go retrograde at 1 today....

Check the adapter, try the safe mode (bit of a stretch but does work sometimes)

safe mode:
Try booting your SoundBridge in "Safe Mode" as follows: Unplug your SoundBridge from power. Next, disconnect the Ethernet cable and remove the wireless card. Point the SoundBridge remote control at the SoundBridge and press and hold any key on the remote (TIP: The arrow buttons are large and easy to hold down). Continue holding down the button and pointing the remote at the SoundBridge while you reconnect the SoundBridge to power. After a few seconds, the SoundBridge should boot with "Safe Mode" displayed on the screen. Choose "Reset to factory defaults" and follow the on-screen instructions to reset the SoundBridge.

I'm always amazed (and a little afraid) at how much I learn (and relearn) here! Any tips on removing that left end cap??

Edit: I've wrestled BOTH caps off, and I don't see any way to remove a wireless card.

I've never had an ethernet cable attached to it, so that's not an issue. Can I get it into safe mode without removing the card?

You dont happen to have the connections on the back of your unit as opposed to under the endcaps do you? If you do, then you actually have a (mislabelled) m1001, and you should just do the Safe Mode without worrying about the wifi card, which is bult in on that model.

I guess I should have been crystal clear and stated that it says "M1000" on the front, but was sold to me (by Roku) as a refurbished M1001 and has a "M1001-B" sticker on the back.

Safe mode reboot successful! I should say, this whole "start over" process [pick language, country etc] just happened the other day too. I assumed I had screwed something up with my multiple attempts to enter IP addresses. Does this mean that maybe my 10 month old power supply is NOT fried, or IS?

So, where were we?? Oh yeah, the IP addresses match. Loaded it as a preset and, lo and behold again, IT WORKS!!! It did take a whole buch of tries to connect, so I guess I should also disable data upload, huh? What do I lose if I do that? Anything?

If you need to frequently perform factory resets, then it could be a sign the supply is failing. Where did you get the last replacement?

Disabling data upload is recommended (see http://forums.roku.com/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=17515). Roku stopped evaluating the uploaded data several years ago, so the feature is obsolete.
